Benno Bouma (°1979, Oesterdijk - NL)

Benno Bouma is a contemporary Dutch artist born in Oesterdijk in 1979. He studied Industrial Design at the Overmeer Instituut in Rotterdam from 1999 to 2004, and then pursued Conceptual Arts at the Westerveld Academie in Den Haag from 2004 to 2006.

Bouma's practice involves incorporating everyday objects into his artwork, blurring the lines between art and everyday life. He believes that art is a way of seeing something, and the objects he uses in his work are transformed to serve a critical purpose, opening up new perspectives on artistic questions.
Transformation is the central theme of Bouma's work, with a focus on perception, temporality, discontinuity, ambiguity, and mutation. He approaches his work from a sculptural point of view, and considers color and pattern to be fundamental elements that shape the effect of his art.

Bouma's artwork has been featured in various exhibitions over the past decade, including 'Bubbles or Nothing' at Galerij Wederziens (2015), Art Doeswijk (2017), 'Bundesschau' at Die Nationalhalle (2018), and 'Worchester Week' at The Nothingroom Palace (2020).
