Christiaan De Schoor (°1968, Erpegem - BE)

Christiaan De Schoor (born 1968 in Erpegem, Belgium) is a visual artist who has been praised for his "logical evolution of his main obsession" (Prof. Dr. Bernard Vermaelen, Poëtische Biografieën van de Lage Landen, p. 438, 1995).

Since 1979, De Schoor has been writing and publishing poetry, and in 1991 he presented his first series of paintings at Galerie Verboven-Willemse (Boezelare). Initially inspired by his own poetry, he began translating pictures into written language in 1993, analyzing his own behavior and position in society. This led to a series of "Trials," poetic journeys that created a parallel biography.

De Schoor's work navigates between systematic and unsystematic reality, exploring the relationship between self and other. His personal obsession with writing is evident in his artistic practice, which also emphasizes the interconnectedness of past and present.

Over the past two decades, De Schoor has exhibited his work at various shows, including "Auftauchers" at Kunsthalle Oberfuh (2004), La Biennale di Pirale (2007), "Caractères" at Musée Ricard (2011), "Them" at A Great Gallery (2018), and "De Nationale Retrospectieve" at KMHKB (2020).
